Amazon Web Services AWS- is a prominent name among other cloud platforms. It is one of the most comprehensive cloud platforms which offers around 165 fully featured services from their data centers located globally. Experts believe it to be a great invention and consider it a building block to the deployment of different types of applications on the cloud. We specifically designed this article for those people who were unaware of Amazon Web services and are eager to know about it. With AWZ, Amazon has taken the cloud services to a whole new level. Cloud computing is growing to be a basic necessity for all businesses. AWS also provides different levels of control over the stored data according to the user’s preferences. Such clouding computing services are called service deployment models.

Types of Cloud Computing:

Cloud computing service falls into four different categories:

  1. IaaS (Infrastructure as a service):

This is the most common type of cloud computing which allows users to access data available on the cloud through the internet. IaaS users rent virtual networks, servers, and machines, etc.

  1. PaaS (Platform as a service):

PaaS allows its users to create and host web and mobile apps utilizing internet servers.

  1. SaaS (Software as a service):

Software as a service allows the users to access the same application on cloud storage through all the devices having access.

  1. FaaS (Functions as a service):

FaaS includes another abstraction layer to PaaS in order to save the developers from the stack present below their code. It uploads the functional codes in blocks which are triggered only by a certain event. It doesn’t consume any IaaS resources, until the occurrence of a special event. It is highly beneficial in reducing the pay per use resources.

Amazon Launched its Cloud service back in 2006 in order to take good care of the retail operations of Amazon itself. However, now it has grown to be one of the major players of the cloud hosting service providers. The major services provided by AWS are as follow:

  • Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
  • Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS)
  • Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)
  • Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC)
  • Amazon Cloud Front
  • Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS)
  • Amazon Simple Queue Service ( Amazon SQS)
  • Amazon Simple DB

AWS is providing amazing services to its users. Let us discuss AWS services:

1.    Amazon Storage:

AWS is facilitating its users with the storage facility which is known as Amazon Simple Storage Service or S3. It offers the users an opportunity to avail scalable storage in order to create back up for their data for up to 5 Gigabytes. S3 allows the users to store and organize the data stored within. If you’re looking for a long term cold storage facility then AWS offers Amazon Glacier and Amazon Elastic book store services to keep you accommodated at all times.

2.    Amazon Elastic Book Store:

Another storage facility by Amazon is Amazon Elastic Block Store. The benefit of Elastic book store is that it lets all the users store persistent data into the block level storage which is also available to the users even when the Elastic Compute cloud is shut down. You need to be very clear about the concept of Elastic Computing cloud in order to understand this point. This is very why we are going to discuss Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud later in the article.

3.    Amazon Glacier:

It is among one of the most low-cost cloud storage services which enables the users store their infrequently used data for long-standing. It is great for all the businesses to keep their data secure on the cloud at the lowest possible rates.

4.    AWS Data Management service:

This service of data management by AWS includes Amazon Relational DB service. Amazon’s RDB service is highly efficient and is well-suited for several database engines which enable the users to migrate, utilize, recover and take the back up of their data.

5.    Cloud Management and Configuration:

Amazon Web services also provide its users with handy tools for Cloud configuration and management. AWS Config and AWS Config rules are few of the many tools which help the users with the configurations. My personal favorite tool named AWS Trusted Advisor is greatly helpful in selecting the right practices which lend a helping hand to users in efficient cloud resource configuration based on the factors like error lenience, protection and performance betterment.

6.    Amazon messaging Service:

Amazon owns the best messaging service which is widely known as Amazon Simple Queue Service, Amazon simple email service and Amazon Simple Notification Service. Simple Queue service is quite quick, powerful and effective messaging queuing service which allows the user to send, receive and store messages. Whereas SNS is an effective push notification service. It enables you to roll out messages to several of the users in one go.

Amazon Simple Email Service is the best service for all the marketers out there. It enables them to roll out promotional, transactional and other such emails according to the business needs.

7.    Secure Clouding:

Growing connectivity has made security a major concern to all of us. In order to ensure the security of the clients, Amazon Web Services provide the security management services i.e. AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). This tool allows the client to manage access to cloud resources. It also enables the user to customize the access settings.

I hope the article has been of help in understanding the Amazon Web Services. The aforementioned information has introduced you to the basic functionalities that AWS is facilitating its users with. Stay connected in order to educate yourself. Get a high-speed internet connection for yourself from local cable deals to stay connected with the new happenings of the world.
